It is thought the youngsters could be travelling from neighbouring towns, including Lancing.

Inspector Martin Pattenden said: "If you come to Worthing with the intention of street drinking or causing anti social behaviour then you are liable to be arrested and your parents will be confronted with the evidence. Those of you travelling on the trains without tickets are being targeted. This behaviour will not be tolerated.

"I would remind parents that they should know where their children are going at night and if they come home drunk they should be asking why."

Police spokeswoman Jill Pedersen added: "Officers will be using robust tactics to deal with a rise in antisocial behaviour, which has seen youths congregating near the bandstand and drinking alcohol in the street, causing damage and assaulting others.
