It's the first time in six years that the pair have presented together, as Turnbull sits in for Piers Morgan on the ITV show this week.
Starting the show, the pair marked their reunion with a hug, with Turnbull saying it was "so exciting" to be back.
Reid said: "I haven't heard that for a number of years, Susanna Reid and Bill Turnbull."
Turnbull replied: "I know. Go on, pinch me, because I can't believe this is really happening. It's so exciting!"
He then joked: "And to be on the television with the legend that is Andi Peters."
Turnbull, 64, now works on Classic FM alongside Charlotte Hawkins, after revealing in 2018 that he had advanced prostate cancer.
The father-of-three told Radio Times last year that he has a "fair old time to live".
He added: “You hope for a couple of years, but I really don’t think in terms of how long I’ve got left.”
Viewers were delighted to see the broadcaster back, with many comparing his genial style to the more controversial approach of Morgan.
Twitter user @markarby commented: "Good Morning Britain is a better news and discussion show with Bill Turnbull than the tabloid shouting match it has become with Piers Morgan. Bill also lets Susanna speak and we get to see how good a journalist she is. Brilliant pairing and a much better show than usual."
@hearmeplaypiano agreed: "Great to see Bill Turnbull in the house. Could we just swap him for Piers Morgan? Please?"
@kirstiepaulesu added: "I'm loving seeing Bill Turnbull presenting on @GMB I do hope he's going to become a regular."
