Why is Kim Cattrall not returning?
Despite the show’s return, one central character won’t be making an appearance: it's been revealed that Kim Cattrall – who played promiscuous PR worker Samantha – isn’t involved in the reboot.
Rumours of a rift with Parker were fuelled in 2017, when Cattrall said the cast were “never friends” and that Parker “could have been nicer” after Cattrall turned down another movie.

Catrall’s indifference put plans for a third big screen outing for the foursome on hold; it was reported in 2018 that she did not want to appear when she learned of a storyline involving her character receiving nude images from Miranda's teenage son.
The actor later cleared up any rumours, saying she decided again signing on for the third film because she had gone “past the finish line" of portraying Samantha, due to her love of the series.

Parker later said she was “not sure if I can imagine doing another movie without her”, and expressed disappointment that a third film would not be made, but later said in an interview that she respected Cattrall’s decision to say no.
“I’d just like to remind everybody that there is no catfight,” Parker told Vulture. “I have never uttered an unkind, unsupportive, unfriendly word, so I would love to redefine it.
