From putting the kettle on first thing, to tucking people up cosy in bed at night, Coastal Homecare are looking after the home comforts and safety of hundreds across the south coast.

And now the friendly, professional team can offer even more people support when they need it as they expand their services into East Grinstead and Horsham and surrounding villages.

Coastal Homecare have provided care for elderly, disabled and vulnerable people throughout West Sussex, Mid Sussex, East Sussex and Brighton and Hove for over a decade since 2012, it now has offices in Brighton and Hove, West Sussex (Worthing), Mid Sussex (Burgess Hill).

It is registered as GOOD in all areas by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and provides personal care, including live-in care, home care and social support to adults over the age of 18. It provides quality care that is focussed on the needs, rights and choices of individual clients.

Their rigorous recruitment policy includes DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) checks, full employment history and two written references to ensure quality carers are employed. All new and experienced team members undergo induction training as well as ongoing professional specialist training.

Area manager Neil Kentish said: “To our clients, our carers daily visits make all the difference. We realise how important our carers can be in the lives of the people we support and their loved ones. Offering care means being a companion, the person we are caring for may be experiencing cancer, dementia or frailties associated with older age but in our role as care givers, we are there on the journey as equals.”

Short or long-term care

Whether you, or a loved one, need help with personal care, home care or social support Coastal Homecare can work with you to find the right package to suit – and the right staff for you.

It might be a short-term need, such as recuperation after an injury or hospitalisation, or a longer-term need.

When a short term need is identified the aim will be to offer support to the client, and their family or friends, through every stage of recovery.

Whether a hospital stay has been needed for a planned procedure or as an emergency admission it can be a worrying time. Afterwards, people may no longer need the level of medical care that the hospital gives but are not yet ready to look after themselves and can end up ‘stuck’ between the two.

Let’s face it, most of us would prefer to be in our own home and bed – with home comforts and familiar surroundings. Coastal Homecare can ensure that can happen, and that clients have as much independence as possible and do as much for themselves as they can, but they’ll be there for that extra care and support whilst it’s needed, to ensure a smooth transition from patient to independent fully-recovered person.

In other cases, longer-term care is needed. Coastal Homecare are there from the very beginning, and can plan for and deliver the appropriate care as need gradually increases.

Care packages

Here are a few of the common areas of home care and support given:

– Live-in Care: Round the clock care from a small dedicated team which may include waking nights or sleep-ins.

– Personal care and home care: This offers dignified care to promote independent living including promoting mobility, washing, dressing, continence care, helping you get up or supporting you to bed, preparing meals and assisting with medicines.

– Household domestic care: Helping you keep your home clean and tidy and doing household chores such as laundry and ironing, vacuuming, dusting and polishing, watering the plants and taking out the rubbish.

– Social and companionship care: This promotes wellbeing and offers support and companionship when attending appointments or going out and about or on trips. It could be going to the hospital or taking a stroll on the seafront, shopping or visiting a friend, going to the pictures or attending church.

What are the costs?

Coastal Homecare can help by working closely with stakeholders to assess your needs and determine whether you qualify for funding and how that might be paid or you could be a self-funding client paying by direct debit.

The costs will very much depend on what type of care is needed and what type of care but this will all be fully discussed and explained by one of the friendly and experienced home care leads or supervisors after they have met you and found out more about you and your situation.
