300+ runners set for Pudding Dash

There is sure to be plenty of festive spirit on display as scores of runners descend on Ashburnham Place tomorrow (Saturday).

A healthy entry of 300-plus runners is set to contest the ninth annual staging of the Christmas Pudding Dash, a multi-terrain five-mile race held in glorious surroundings.

The field will contain a good mix of experienced runners and those looking for a pre-Christmas bit of running fun. Christmas dress is encouraged, but isn’t compulsory.

Organisers Nice Work - a professional events management company - will have prizes for the first three men and ladies, plus a range of age and team awards.

An approximately two-mile fun run will start with the main race at 10.30am, while a Christmas Children’s Dash will start before the main race 10.15 am and organisers will wait for the last youngster to finish before starting the main races.

In addition to a special Christmas pudding medal, mince pies, mulled wine and a small Christmas pudding will be the reward for all finishers. The race is also chip timed.

A race spokesman said: “We would encourage anybody wishing to enter on the day to arrive early and in good time as it will be very busy.”
