Abbey fly flag in Sunday football final

Chris Smith opened the scoring at Tilekiln before a Paul Oliver double made the game safe for the Battle based-club. Sweeper David Miller capped a fine display by running the length of the pitch to complete a 4-0 win.

Abbey will meet Mill House in the final at the Sussex FA's Lancing headquarters on March 27. Mill House, who knocked out Hastings League leaders Silverhill Club in the second round, beat Sussex Sunday League title rivals Clifton 1-0 in their semi-final at the weekend.

Silverhill inched closer to the Hastings Sunday League title with a 3-1 win over Oddfellows Arms, a hat-trick from Timmy-Lee Saunters cancelling out an effort from Ben Knight.

Unilock remain five points adrift of top spot after also winning 3-1 against Collington thanks to goals from Daniel Kendrick, Chris Stonham and Sam Clee, whilst Trevor Thorogood replied for the basement boys.

In the other Division One match, Jason Tilbury celebrated becoming a dad earlier in the week by scoring the opening goal in Comet's 2-1 defeat of Bexhill AAC. Leigh Boyd added a second and Ben White netted for AAC.

Runaway Division Two leaders Bexhill AAC II made it an even dozen with a narrow 2-1 victory over Millers Arms. Aaron Cochrane grabbed both goals to maintain their superb 100 per cent record, with Shaun Noble replying.

Old King John notched their 11th straight win to remain two points clear at the top of Division Three, goals from Jimmy Sladden, Tim Olorunda and Carl Oxingham securing a 3-1 success over FC Spar who hit back through James Glavin.

Second-placed Bo-Peep II were involved a high-scoring 10-5 win over West St Leonards Boys. Jon Porter (3), Carl Longbottom (3), Chris Jones (2) and Billy Woods (2) made up the title hopefuls' tally, while Dan Hilder (2), Charles Morgan, Lawrence Oakman and Matt Stephens replied on a bad day for defenders.
