LITTLEHAMPTON manager Andy Taylor felt that his side had been denied a certain victory by a peculiar refereeing decision at Redhill on Saturday.

Level at 2-2, with a minute or so left, Richie Hellen put substitute Jonas Templeman through on goal. But, Redhill defender, Andrew Walsh had reportedly sworn at Horsham referee Chris Pearce, which led to a free kick for Littlehampton back in their own half of the field and a red card for Walsh. However, this negated Littlehampton s march forward.

Marigolds started the brighter, catching Redhill square at the back at will. On one occasion Steve Davies, having been played in by Hellen, was unceremoniously dumped on his behind by Walsh, an offence which earnded a caution.

They didn t have to wait for long to take the lead, though. Jonathan Bennett sent over a corner and Derek Chester flicked on with his head. Despite a parry from the Redhill keeper, the ball still dropped over the line.
