ARRESTING DISPLAY BY REBELS

WORTHING demolished a depleted London boys in blue on Saturday. The Met relaxed only last season their policy on players needing to be serving police officers and they went down to two goals from Sam Francis, one from the rejoining Gavin Geddes and another from Ben Carrington.

They did give Rebels a rude awakening from the comfort zone of 3-0 in the 73rd minute, when Jon Daly clipped the ball over Ross Standen to reduce the deficit.

And then they took the game to Worthing with captain Ian Batten setting up a couple of chances for Bruno Mendonca, but the big front man failed to capitalise.

In an uneventful first half-hour, left-winger Wesley Lopez crosses set up a flashing off-target header from Worthing captain Paul Rogers and a Sam Francis narrow non-connection. But the breakthrough came in the 37th minute when Rogers had two stabs during action in the six-yard box before the ball fell to Francis.
