Bar Billiards - Howlett impresses in Sussex Open
From a line-up of 74 from 7 different counties, 31 were from Sussex which included 11 from the Billingshurst League; Of these, the four Roffey S & S Clubsters probably fared the best, with Dave Howlett (pictured) - taking part in his maiden Open - making the Quarter-final, breezing past England Internationals Pete Sainsbury and Alan Donovan before losing to the eventual winner.
Stu Carruthers, who had won the Sussex Masters played the previous day, made the Last 16 with wins over two more England men (Gerry Fitzjohn and Nigel Senior) whilst John Slee made the same stage by beating 7-times World Champion Kevin Tunstall before also coming up against Bob.
