BENN IS SEVEN-UP

SEVEN wickets for captain Benn Challen helped Clymping to defeat Eastergate to gain their first league win of the season on Saturday but only just.

Challen's side lost eight wickets chasing Eastergate's total of 143, even after getting a start like 89-1. From that point, Clymping slumped to 110-5 and 133-8 with Mark Leach working his way through the middle order.

Graham Blann and Chris Green got Clymping off to a great start. Blann bludgeoned his way to 48, before Duncan Waitland stumped him off Ian Timms. Green perished for 25 eight runs later, a victim of Craig Edwards.

Karl Pierce was the only other Clymping batsman to reach double figures. His 11 was probably decisive in its way, just holding the fort while Sam Orchard and Tom Pugh edged Clymping to victory.
