Bennett bags brilliant bronze

Joshua Bennett won a bronze medal in the National Under-11, 12, 13 and 14s National Table Tennis Championships last weekend.

The Hollington Table Tennis Club starlet reached the semi-finals of the under-12 boys’ singles at The Dome in Doncaster on Sunday.

Joshua, 11, beat third seed Hugo Pang (Hampshire) 3-0 in the quarter-finals and then pulled back from 10-6 down to 10-10 in the fifth game against his regional team-mate Luke Saville (Kent) only to lose out 12-10.

Polegate-based Joshua also lost 12-10 in the fifth against Billy Forster (Cleveland) in the quarter-finals of the under-13 boys’ singles on Saturday having won by the same margin against higher ranked Pang in the previous round.
