Bexhill in the promotion hunt

BEXHILL hauled themselves into the promotion frame in Division Two of the Sussex Cricket League with a five-wicket win over Stirlands.

The victory saw Bexhill close the gap on leaders East Grinstead to just 24 points.

Third-placed Stirlands have only lost twice this season and both have come at the hands of Bexhill.

Once again it was skipper Sam Roberts who led the way with bowling figures of 6-74 and an undefeated 75.

Stirlands were dismissed for 189 with Ryan Bonner hitting a typically flamboyant 65.

In reply, Roberts and Martin Barry (68) steered the home side to 192-5 and their fifth league win of the season.
