BEXHILL SWIMMERS STAR FOR SEAGULL

THE Sussex Schools Gala took place at Crawley at the weekend with several Bexhill-based members of Hastings Seagull Swimming Club representing their individual schools.

Each swimmer was restricted to a maximum of three events.

In the Years 6/7/8, St Richards pupil Andrew Eaton, 12, swam some excellent races to win the 100m butterfly (1.12.22PB), finish 3rd in the 200m IM (2.40.09PB) and 4th in the 50m freestyle (30.15PB).

Thirteen-year-old Sarah Richard (St Richards) also performed very well to win the 100m backstroke (1.10.75PB), and followed that with 3rd in the 100m freestyle (1.04.45PB) and 4th in the 50m freestyle (30.23).

Bexhill High student Edward Pitt, 13, finished 2nd in the 100m butterfly (1.12.43PB), 3rd in the 100m freestyle (1.06.24PB) and took part in the 50m freestyle (30.96PB).

Twelve-year-old Rachel Lawton (Bexhill High) swam the 100m freestyle (1.08.06PB), 100m breaststroke (1.27.62) and 50m freestyle (31.70PB).

In the Years 9/10, James Lawton, 14, was 2nd in the 100m butterfly (1.04.98PB), 3rd in the 50m freestyle (26.88PB) and 4th in the 100m backstroke (1.05.08PB).

Sixteen-year-old Michelle Thwaites (Bexhill College) swam in the Years 11/12/13 100m freestyle (1.06.17) and the 50m freestyle.
