Biathlete Ben's bronze in Bonn

SUPERFIT biathlete Ben McIvor has been busy adding to his trophy cabinet.

The 14-year-old from Bexhill recently returned from Bonn, Germany, where he won a bronze medal in the World Biathle Championships. The Biathle differs from the biathlon as the events are completed consecutively rather than with a break in between.

The Bonn course saw Ben finish a gruelling 500m run, a 100m swim and another 500m run to earn his bronze medal.

Ben then took two gold medals at the British Open and International Biathle in Weymouth, winning both his age-group competition and the overall winner in the British field. To complete his collection, Ben won the South East Biathlon Championships Cup at Eltham College, London.

His first place in the 1000m run and 100m swim also qualifies him for the National Championships in Sheffield in November.
