Big field set for 10K

More than 200 runners are expected to contest the annual Bexhill Big 10K tomorrow (Sunday).

The course has returned to the original format now the new promenade works are complete, with the start in Devonshire Road at 10.30am.

Runners will go across onto the promenade and head west for the first lap before returning into the high street at 5.8km.

They will then head back out onto the promenade and run east up to the top of Galley Hill prior to returning to Devonshire Road for the finish.

The course can offer a great opportunity for quick times and personal bests for runners depending on the Bexhill wind.

The race attracts a large range of abilities and ages from the county’s best runners, who will complete the 10km in 30-35 mins, through to beginners.

The race has prizes and trophies for the top three male and female athletes, as well as the winners of each age group. Every finisher will receive a bespoke medal for their efforts.

There will also be races of 500m, 1km and 2km for children aged 3-16, starting at 10am. Children can enter on the race morning from 8.45am in Devonshire Road for £3. Day entries are also accepted for the main 10k race at £14.

Road closures will be in place. Devonshire Road will be closed from 7.30am-1pm, while Marina (from Albert Road to Eversley Road), Marina Court Avenue and Channel View West/Channel View East, and Galley Hill will be closed from 9.30am-midday. For further race information, visit www.big10k.co.uk
