BLUES SEEK SUNDAY BEST ...

INTERNATIONAL test match action disrupts the local rugby programme this weekend.

Scotland's clash with South Africa at Murrayfield on Saturday has shunted the domestic action back 24 hours.

Kirkcaldy Rugby now face a Sunday trip to Myreside to meet runaway league leader Watsonians.

When the teams met at Beveridge Park at the beginning of the season, it took a try late into injury time to give 'Sonians a victory which they barely deserved.

But since then they have sharpened up their act, and in the seven fixtures which followed took the four try bonus point each time.

Their game at Grangemouth last weekend was called off because of a waterlogged pitch, but they still lead the division by a 12-point margin from second placed Glasgow H/A.

With Kirkcaldy desperately trying to re-establish themselves in the promotion hunt, it is essential they take something from the weekend game.

The coaching duo of Mike O'Donovan and Andy Henderson will remember the September game in which their side was never behind until the 85th minute of play and also that they were able to open up the Watsonians' defence fairly easily.

The Blues will also have to avoid the type of unforced errors which have plagued them in so many games this season loss of ball in contact probably cost them the Gala game last Saturday and they were unable to build up the phases of play from which tries come.

Tight head Jamie Brown had to be pulled out of the squad last week less than half an hour before kick-off with a groin injury.

If he is still unfit, Mark Thomson will continue in the number three jersey with Pete Burns on the other side.

Stand-off Damien Petre will be off for another couple of weeks, and Murray Fleming will again deputise.

Full-back Chris Milne, who has been missing for the past five weeks, is available again but is unlikely to have regained match fitness so will probably be held back until the Grangemouth game on Saturday week.

r The second XV are in action on Friday night against Currie at Malleny Park with a 7.30 p.m. kick-off when hopefully this twice-postponed match will go ahead.

r David Jessiman, the Australian born flanker who played with Kirkcaldy last season and is now with Manchester, was included in the Scottish Exiles side which played the Edinburgh Development team at Murrayfield on Monday.
