Southern was running hard at the Oakmeadians defence and the front row of Joyce, Stan Wright and Orchard causing problems for the opposition.

Smart work from Scott Darling saw the ball moved wide to Henton, who needed just the sight of a gap to scorch over for the try.

Oaks used their big ball carriers to smash over the gain line. Bognor began to fall off tackles and failed to secure clean ruck ball, allowing Oaks to score two fine tries.

Stern words from the coaches spurred Bognor on. Ide was everywhere clearing out rucks. Fadera picked up from No8, swatted off a number of attempted tackles and crashed over in the corner to tie things up at 10-10 at half-time.

Corbould drove into the heart of the Oaks defence and scrum-half Spurle broke clear from halfway. He was tackled just before the try line but Southern was on hand to drive over.

Back came Oaks with both Matafwali and Arthur Wright making try-saving tackles on their rapid winger.

Peterson ran strongly, the ball was recycled and Clark fed Fadera. A lovely offload found the flying Henton, who outsprinted the cover and scored. Clark converted majestically to end the scoring.
