Boss Shepherd has sights on top five

TWO goals by player-manager Dominic Shepherd helped extend Southwick FC's unbeaten run to nine league games on Saturday. It is Wickers' best run of form since they went 10 matches without defeat at the end of the 2002-03 season and the start of the 2003-04 campaign.

That 10-game unbeaten run was started off under Sammy Donnelly, before caretaker boss Mick Fogden and then joint-bosses Mark Burt and Lee Cox completed the streak.

The current run has delighted Shepherd, who has not dismissed his side's chances of making an immediate return to the top County League division.

He said: "We are in eighth place and only six points off Westfield, who are third."
