Boss wins it for Sidley

A LATE goal from player manager Peter Heritage against Wick helped Sidley keep pace with the leading pack in the Sussex County first division.

Sidley started off the stronger side and were awarded an early penalty when Dave Carey was brought down in the box, leaving Peter Baker to slot home his 11th goal of the season.

Almost straight after the restart, Wick hit back with a good attacking move. A low cross into the box was met by the fingertips of keeper Bradley Poole but he couldn t divert the ball away from Green who scrambled the ball home for the equaliser.

In the second half the home side were back in control of the game, but were finding it hard to keep possession up front. Heritage came off the bench in order to hold the ball up better, and with two minutes to go the tactical change was rewarded with the winning goal.

Jimmy Watson set his boss up in front of the defence and Heritage hit an impressive 18 yard shot that left the keeper no chance.
