Arun’s visit to Adur IBC for a six-rink men’s league fixture did not go well.

Arun won on only one rink and overall lost by 39 shots, gaining just one point.

Arun entertained Sutton in this six-rink men’s fixture but lost by seven shots – winning on two rinks, drawing on one and losing on three.

It was very tight throughout.

Arun ladies hosted Preston in the SCWIBA League. Arun had a very good win and only lost on one rink. Preston were unable to find the green and lost by 78 shots.

Arun ladies took 7½ points in their league match at home against Adur, winning overall but losing on three rinks and drawing on one.

BOGNOR GOODWOODS

There was nothing to separate the two teams when Goodwoods Greens visited Lavant Reds in the league. Both mats ended in draws, giving three points to each side.

Brian Mills team of Edna Cook, Derek Fair and Eric Jones had a slow start and were five shots down at the halfway stage. They staged a good second-half recovery and eventually drew 17-17 with Peter Winter’s team.

Brenda Jones’ team of Joan Simmons, Betty Williams and Marlene Steel were also behind after ten ends, but had a good second half and with the help of a single shot on the last end finished 19-19 against Peter Whale’s side.

Greens won the friendly encounter after Geoff King, Jean Harbut, Pam Smith and Freddie Kaucher (skip) dominated the second half to win 20-10.

DONNINGTON

Donnington sent three teams to Nyetimber. A very enjoyable afternoon of bowling saw Nyetimber get their own back for the defeat earlier in the season at Donnington with a 71-59 win.

Donnington members took part in a spoon drive at the club. It was a light-hearted get together, where members who bowl on different days are able to meet up and enjoy themselves.

FITTLEWORTH

Fittleworth put up a good fight against West Chiltington on their fast mats but went down 57-55.

Lavant and West Dean members met for the first leg of two in an annual contest for the coveted Two Villages Cup.

Triples were played over 18 ends on three mats.

Mat one saw West Dean race ahead to win by 13 shots but on mat two Lavant won by 17 shots. Mat three was more evenly scored, West Dean winning by five shots. That meant a 47-36 win for West Dean. The final leg will be played outdoors at West Dean in June.
