Bognor ace's pro debut to be shown on Eurosport

The Bognor welterweight has been lined up to face Adam Little in his opponent’s home town of Blackpool on Friday (August 19).

The fight is third on the bill in a show headlined by Matthew Hatton’s IBF inter-continental welterweight fight with unbeaten Andrei Abramenka from Belarus which will be broadcast by satelitte station Eurosport.

It’s a tough debut for Griffiths as undefeated Little was a double ABA champion before turning pro and one of his two victories in the paid ranks was inside the distance, indicating he is a big puncher.

But the West Sussex 24-year-old, trained in Portsmouth by Michael Ballingall, stated: “When I signed my professional forms I said I wouldn’t be afraid to travel long distances and get into the ring with good boxers, so I might as well start as I mean to go on.

“It will be tough but I’ve boxed in hostile environments in London, Cardiff and Newcastle so this won’t be anything new or worrying.

“Whatever the outcome, I’m really excited to be getting my career started and if the fight’s on Eurosport that will be incredible.”

Griffiths, who been getting in top shape at VK’s Gym in Durban Road, Bognor, gave his thanks to Muscle Fury and NJL Golledge Groundworks and Landscapes.

The orthodox puncher, will also be on a show at Liquid in Portsmouth on Saturday, October 15.

“It is after Pompey play Barnsley so it should be a great day for sports fans in this area,” he added.
