Brame wants to keep Thunder’s winning streak going

Thunder finished 2011 with seven successive wins to go up to second in the EBL table and Brame, whose side take on Brixton Topcats at Worthing Leisure Centre on Saturday (7.30pm), said: “We want to keep the winning streak going but we’ve just got to take one game at a time.

“We’ve had a couple of weeks off but practised last week and will be preparing hard this week as well.

“We’ve just got to play the best we can, and I still don’t think we’ve played at our best this season, but, when we do, we’re good enough to beat the teams around us.

“We’ve just got to keep improving throughout the rest of the season.

“Last time Brixton came to us, they beat us, so it will be a tough game for us but it’s a chance for some redemption for us and we owe them.”

On the rest of the season, Brame said: “We’ve just got to look to get better every game we play.

“Our goal is to win every game that we play and I believe we can do that. It won’t be easy but we’re playing with confidence, have good team chemistry and are getting a lot better.”

Coach Gary Smith is set to be back for Thunder this weekend after illness and Brame, who has been player-coach in his absence, said: “It will be a massive boost to have him back in the driving seat.

“I enjoyed coaching but it was a bit stressful and it’s hard to be a player-coach and I don’t know how some guys have done it for so many years.”
