Having pulled off splendid wins over Michael White and Shaun Murphy in the previous two rounds, the St Leonards cueman was beaten 5-1 by Mark Allen in a hard-fought quarter-final.
World number 10 Allen took the opening frame despite a Davis break of 41 and the Northern Irishman also claimed the second, in which Davis potted a solitary red.

Allen rattled through frame five with a break of 88 and began the next with a 42. Davis looked like he was about to come back and clinch the frame, but yet another kick caused him to miss a routine green when on a break of 38 and Allen got over the line.
Allen will face Ding Junhui or Kyren Wilson in the semi-finals tomorrow. The other last four tie, incidentally, sees world champion Stuart Bingham up against Judd Trump.
