The St Leonards potter followed up his 4-3 victory over Neil Robertson at the 888.com World Grand Prix last Wednesday with a 4-1 win over the same opponent at the Players Championship Grand Final in Thailand this afternoon (Thursday).

World number 19 Davis clinched the opening frame of the second round match thanks to a closing break of 59 and a run of 57 in the next paved the way for a 2-0 advantage.

Although Robertson knocked in a brilliant 138 break in frame three to open his account, Davis came through a fairly lengthy fourth frame before sealing another tremendous victory in the next with the help of a 68.

Davis’s reward is a quarter-final meeting with world number nine Stuart Bingham, who beat Davis 4-0 at the same stage of the World Grand Prix. That match will take place tomorrow morning.

The 42-year-old Davis previously saw off world number six Ricky Walden 4-2 in round one yesterday with a top break of 74. He has reached the quarter-finals in each of his last three tournaments.
