The St Leonards potter won the last two frames to defeat Ricky Walden 4-2 in round one of the Players Championship Grand Final.

World number 19 Davis lost the opening frame on the final black, but rattled through the second in a single visit thanks to a break of 74 and then clinched the third with the aid of 20 points in fouls to go 2-1 up.

Davis was also on course to take the fourth until world number six Walden pinched it with a 33 clearance. A break of 40 helped Davis pocket frame five, however, and he cleared the final five colours to seal victory in frame six.

His reward is a second round meeting with Australian world number two Neil Robertson, who Davis narrowly defeated in a thrilling match at the same stage of the 888.com World Grand Prix last week. That game will take place tomorrow.

The Players Championship Grand Final is a world ranking event contested by the top 24 players from the Kreativ Dental European Tour Order of Merit, plus the top eight from the Asian Tour Order of Merit.

Davis, 42, came 11th on the European Tour Order of Merit after reaching the quarter-finals of event three in October and semi-finals of event five in December.
