Brenda takes a prizescalp to book herplace at Leamington

Hurstpierpoint bowler Brenda Davies pulled off a superb victory over national singles champion Amy Truran to book a place at Leamington Spa in the two-wood singles.

Davies won the 21-end semi final 16-12 at the Preston Club against the former St Francis bowler, who now plies her trade with Worthing club Homefield Park.

Davies’ cousin Jenny Goodman also had a good victory to celebrate as she reached the Sussex County Patrons two-wood final, which will be played at the Preston Club.

A strong finish by the St Francis team of Bob Skipp and Rosemary and Doug Carter helped them turn around six-shot deficit on the 16th end to win 18-16 in their Simmons Cup match at home to Horley.

There was also a Simmons Cup win, 17-8 against East Grinstead, for Tony Jarvis, Paul Guest and Marge Breading.
