BROWNE FUMING AGAIN

Manager Ian Browne was left in a familiar mood of frustration at certain decisions and sympathy for his players, whose efforts had gone unrewarded by justice.

He felt his side, who are beaten only once in the league at home, should have had three penalties. One foul was adjudged outside the box. Another was waved away after pacy Dave Schneider was brought down in a one-on-one. Then in the second half, Neil Shelley seemed to have his foot stood on as he shaped to shoot.

But most incredulous of all was Browne's perception of the moment when Paul Brown's short was pulled, inside the box, play apparently waved on, his pass to Shelley was blasted into the Rye net only for play to be brought back for the short-pulling free kick.

He pleaded: "What can you say to the payers? I don't question Rye's credentials high up the table and we had to withstand quite a lot of late pressure, but we should have beaten them.

"It was a physical match and I was pleased with our application and performance."

The outstanding Shelley, Sonny Banks and Paul Brown all made easy Scheider's 49th minute opener for United. But Shaun Loft's 80th-minute equaliser cointained, said Brown, more than one element of offside.
