Brown's double tops good start to track season for Chichester

A number of Chichester's track team were in action at the weekend.

Tim Brown showed the way in the club’s opening Southern Athletics League match at Eastbourne with a double win in the shot and hammer.

Also showing good early-season form was Jamie Moore with two fine second places in the pole vault and 400m, battling in a strong wind which prevailed all afternoon.

Elliott Hannan cleared 1.70m to clinch second place in the high jump on countback while Davi Guimeres, Curtis Poole and Christian Cox all performed well on track and field.

These three, plus Sophie Barrett, Tess Shipton and Sophie Long, are still members of the club’s under-17s and competed well against experienced rivals.

In the Crawley open meeting, there were outright wins for Rose Ellis in the 1,500m and Casey Keates in the 800m, both setting new personal bests at under-15 level.

Josh Eeles and Brodie Keates gained a second and third in the under-13 1,500m while Ed Gerwat, Tara Bage and Holly Beaton all set personal bests in the under-15 1,500m.

In the same race Emma Maynard and Nicola Mead ran good times in the women’s event. Lucy Ellis set a new PB in the women’s 800m in the same age group while Josh James opted for the longer 3,000m and ran a fast 10.07 for third place.
