Cathy to face Scots for fifth time

Hide AdShe will be gunning to continue her perfect record in the annual Anglo-Scottish event having won all of her four matches to date, all of them singles contests.
“You get selected by virtue of being a national champion,” Bargh said. “That’s why it’s the greatest honour a person can achieve.”
England are the defending champions in the McCoig Trophy, which is competed for by players in the over-40, over-45, over-50, over-55 and over-60 age groups.

Hide AdBargh, who lives in Sedlescombe, will also compete in doubles at the Lancashire Masters Silver Tournament later the same weekend.
The Freedom Leisure Summerfields professional coach has played for her nation 15 times in different events, and is hoping to be involved in the World Championships in Ankara, Turkey, during August.
“There’s a very strict criteria with any selection,” Bargh added. “We’re all treading on hot coals really season in, season out about how the selection is made. The women’s singles players are few and far between so that helps, but it’s not necessarily a dead cert that every time you’re going to get selected.”
Bargh has won singles medals at the last three European Senior Championships.
