Chichester duo shine at national championships

Two Chichester pupils became champions at the National Prep Schools Athletics meeting in Birmingham.

Part of an 11-strong team representing Years 6, 7 and 8 at Westbourne House School, Jack McCulloch won the under-14 300m and Jemima Lawrence won the shot putt.

Head of Westbourne House athletics Jill Howarth said: “Jack and Jemima are two exceptionally-talented athletes who worked really hard for their success and we were delighted when Jack secured a sports scholarship at Seaford College.”

Lawrence was also placed eighth in the 200m and was part of the under-14 relay team, including Lily Harries, Tati Reed and Tilly Hogan, who secured fifth place. McCulloch also achieved seventh in the triple jump.

Assuring a strong future for Westbourne House at the NPSA meeting, Milo Nutt placed seventh in under-12 javelin, Dominic Russell placed eighth in under-13 hurdles and Lara Simpson placed tenth in under-12 high jump.
