Chichester serve up their annual open tournament

CHICHESTER Racquets & Fitness Club recently hosted its annual LTA sanctioned open junior tournament.

The event was the first in a series of junior tennis events at the club during the summer season.

The under-eight’s mixed singles – with a record-breaking 16 entries – saw James Pollard win the bronze medal; Toby Toft won the silver as runner-up, with the gold medal going to Thomas Bisatt, who won the final 10-8.

The under-nine’s mixed singles was won by William Eales, who collected the gold medal by defeating Willem Sweet 7-5, 7-5, with the bronze going to Otto Serjeant.

The under-10’s mixed singles saw Jacob Harding pick up the gold beating Inigo Serjeant 4-2, with the bronze going to Joe Eales.

In the yellow ball events, the winner for the under-12 girls’ singles was Georgia Price, who beat runner-up Millicent Edwards 6-2, 6-1. The under-12 boys’ singles saw Oliver Dawwas collect his winner’s medal by beating Sam Solomon Grimshaw 6-1, 6-3 in the final.

In the under-14 girls’ singles, Ellie Macintyre was beaten by Isaballa Swann 6-3, 6-2. The winner of the under-16 girls’ singles was Eleanor Inman, and the runner-up was Ella Herman.

The under-16 boys’ singles was won by Oliver Slader, who beat Louis Shaw 3-6, 6-4, (10-7) in the final.
