The Natures Way Foods-sponsored series offers something for everyone, from absolute beginners and children to more experienced triathletes.

Younger athletes will have the chance to take part in the Junior Aquathlon on Saturday, July 4.

This event is for competitors aged eight to 16. It will start with a swimming race at Westgate Leisure Chichester, followed by a run around the Chichester College campus.

On Sunday, July 5, an Olympic-distance triathlon event will take place. The event is made up of a 600m pool swim at Chichester’s Westgate Leisure; a 42km bike ride through Lavant, up South Harting Hill, round through Compton, Funtington and back into Westgate Leisure before finishing with a 10k out-and-back flat run along Centurion Way.

Organisers are encouraging team entries – one individual completes the swim, another completes the cycle and a third takes part in the run. This is a fun way for people to see what a triathlon is like without the pressure of completing all three sections on their own.

The Chichester Westgate Try-a-Tri event will also be taking place on the Sunday. This is a sprint triathlon suitable for competitors who prefer a shorter-distance triathlon involving a 400m pool swim, 30k bike ride and a 5k run.

Sarah Baldock, the director responsible for Natures Way Foods’ community programme, said: “NWF is delighted to be the lead sponsor of the Chichester Triathlon for the ninth year running.

“NWF is strongly committed to supporting community initiatives, particularly those associated with healthy living and sport. Chichester Triathlon is a fantastic local event that is enjoyed by many and we look forward to another successful year with a record-breaking number of participants crossing the finish line once again.”

Cllr Eileen Lintill, cabinet member for wellbeing and community services at Chichester District Council, said: “The triathlon is suitable for all ages and abilities, from the beginner to the more experienced competitor, and this year we hope even more people will take up the challenge.
