Collyer's hockey on the up as Horsham college reaches nationals

In a thrilling final match the women won in sudden death penalty flicks against Peter Symons College in Hampshire to win the British College Sport south regional competition.

The team now qualify for the Nationals BCS finals to be held in Bath in April. Continuing their stunning run they then also won the Sussex U18 schools indoor competition on Sunday November 24, meaning they will represent Sussex in the South of England finals being held at Haslemere on Sunday December 1.

The Women have built a real reputation over the last few years and continue to compete against the top schools and colleges in the country.

Not to be outdone the Collyer’s men did extremely well to come second at their BCS regional tournament, missing out on qualifying for the nationals by one place.

This has been the first year in a while that the men have been competitive and it is hoped that this is the start of more to come.

The College is looking to build stronger hockey links with the local feeder schools.

They also work closely with Ian Ford (sports development officer) and his team at Horsham District Council to help provide sports leaders to assist in the delivery of primary school competitions and after school clubs.

The college also work in close partnership with Horsham hockey club, who oversee the schools development.
