Copley to the rescue

A LATE Chris Copley goal earned Sidley United a 1-1 draw at home to Hailsham Town on Tuesday.

The Sidley captain struck four minutes from time after the Hailsham defence failed to deal with an Adam Day corner.

The home side might have gone on to clinch all three points but an appeal for a penalty from virtually the last kick of the game was waved away.

Sidley dominated early on but struggled to turn possession into chances and it was Hailsham who opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time through Simon Stevens.

Joint manager Peter Heritage said: "With a bit more luck and a bit more composure we could have won."
