The event has been running for more than 80 years, giving local players a chance to forget rivalries and join together on Broadwater Green: where cricket has been played for 300 years.
The week concluded on Sunday with the President’s Match, but a fundraiser last Wednesday against a Worthing FC XI was a real highlight.
More than 200 people attended and enjoyed a barbecue and a pop-up bar from The Cricketers pub.
The aim was to raise as much money as possible for the newly-established Worthing FC Foundation, supporting lots of groups in the area.
The evening raised more than £1,000, while cricketers from various local clubs joined a Friends of Worthing FC CC for the match.
Friends of Worthing posted 157 and secured victory by 27 runs in a high-quality game.
Broadwater CC chairman Robin Silverthorne said: “The cricket itself was great, but to see so many from our local community gather on this historic green to enjoy an evening chatting, feasting and enjoying cricket was the most pleasing thing.
“Raising such a lovely amount for such a worthy cause was icing on the cake.”
Broadwater’s first XI had a cricket week home match on Saturday, taking on Ram in Sussex Division 4 West.
Ram won the toss and elected to bat and totalled 225. Jeremy Layne took 3-63 and Jaynil Patel 4-40. Broadwater fell 17 short, ending on 208 all out with skipper Chris Green stranded on 79 not out.
