Keymer & Hassocks were the latest to suffer and out of the six straight wins this was almost certainly Steyning’s easiest.

On a wet wicket which favoured the bowlers visiting Steyning won the toss and duly inserted Keymer, who were blown away with just 86 runs to show for their efforts.

Hywel Jones then carried his bat for an unbeaten 41 as Steyning chased down the runs in 18.4 overs, only losing two wickets.

Skipper David Kennett said: “It was a good toss to win and we inserted them on a bowler assistant wicket. A few hopped off the length to get the early wickets, we were in control from ball one. We fielded well and took our catches, then Hywel batted with good maturity to play himself in and get us home.”

Steyning have a maximum 180 points from their first six games and ahead of this weekend’s top-of-the-table clash Kennett added: “Slinfold lost which gives us a nice gap going into Saturday’s match with them. I’m expected them to give us our first real test.”
