Ladies launch cricket revolution at Bognor

Bognor Regis Cricket Club are setting up a women’s and girls’ section and have been running a series of training sessions, organised by Sussex’s Charlotte Burton.

They are halfway through a six-week programme of hour-long free training at The Arena leisure centre in Bognor. Some 16 ladies and girls attended over the first two weeks, with more showing an interest, but there is still room for anyone else who is interested.

They are looking for women’s friendly fixtures for the 2016 season.

Simon Crundwell, chairman of Bognor CC, said: “We have had the setting up of a women’s section in our development plan for

some time and my thanks must go to Lisa Jaycocks and Charlotte Burton and her team at Sussex for making this happen.

“It has been a real pleasure to see the strong turnout, including my own daughter, and to see the women enjoying the great sport of cricket.

“We all look forward to seeing this section of our club grow and play their full part within our community club.”
