Park in running for national award

The ‘three-lane practice nets and training space’ will compete against three other projects from across the country in the ‘recreation’ category.

The Sussex Cricket League Division Two club originally received £38,256 in funding from Biffa Award to install new three-lane practice nets to provide

quality training and practice facilities along with the addition of a footpath to improve access.

Park already have well over 200 members with a strong youth section, but thanks to the new nets, it is hoped that the club can establish more junior teams in the 8-16 age groups and a ladies’ side.

With the project completed in the last financial year, it was invited to enter this year’s Biffa Awards, a ceremony which recognises the people who transform their communities through Biffa Award funded projects. More than 240 projects were eligible to enter the awards under five different categories.

The Biffa Awards ceremony 2013 will be held on September 24 at ThinkTank Birmingham Science Museum. Category winners will each receive a trophy and prize money of £2,000, which can be used to further develop their project. Each winner then has the chance of being crowned the overall winner, receiving a further £1,000 prize.
