Piers Morgan promises to present new Sussex cricket teas trophy live on Good Morning Britain
Piers Morgan has promised to present a new cricket teas trophy live on Good Morning Britain.
The Paul 'Doughy' Baker trophy was suggested by Paul Baker himself who wanted to reward the best cricket tea in Sussex following the re-vote to defeat the proposal to remove the obligation for teams to provide cricket teas.
Baker, who has been involved in the Sussex Cricket League for 50 years as a player and an umpire, said he wanted it to be is lasting legacy for the the league.
And after Morgan, along with former England captain Michael Vaughan and commentator Henry Blofeld, were left outraged by the initial vote to remove the provision of cricket teas, Baker thought it was a good idea to get him involved.
He said: "Piers Morgan, Michael Vaughan and Henry Blofeld were particularly damning in the media so I shall personally invite them all to be involved.
"How wonderful would it be for the trophy to be presented by Piers Morgan live on Good Morning Britain?"
And after we posted the story on twitter - Morgan retweeted us and said: "Done! I’ll present it to the winning Sussex cricket tea-maker live on @GMB . Though I should warn you.. it may be my mother. She makes incredible teas..."
Baker was pleased with the response. He said: "I am delighted Piers Morgan has agreed to be involved and am looking forward to making his acquaintance."
Morgan has played for Newick CC in the past and has hosted celebrity games in Sussex.
