The young all-rounder from St Leonards has been awarded a new two-year contract following his first season as a junior professional at The BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground, Hove.

The Hastings-born 18-year-old is a product of Sussex’s Age Group and Academy system, and made both his first-class and List A debuts in 2013, against Durham and the Netherlands respectively.

Finch has also been a regular in the England under-19 set-up over the past 12 months and has recently been selected for the under-19 tour of the UAE, in which England will play a tri-series against Pakistan and the UAE during December.

Finch said: “Obviously I’m thrilled to be awarded the contract and I’ve been working towards this for a few years now. But I know it is only the beginning and there is a lot of hard work to be done in the future.

“It has been pleasing to make my first team debuts and it has been a really good experience. It has been a big learning curve and I’ve got so much from it.”

Sussex’s professional cricket manager Mark Robinson added: “It is always an exciting time when you offer a young player his first contract. Harry has everything infront of him and we look forward to seeing him fulfil his potential.”
