Priory will travel to Brentwood in the quarter-finals of the ECB Royal London Club Championship today (Sunday). Play is due to start at 1pm.

First team coach Ian Gillespie said: “The cup is a welcome release (from the league). We’ve done wonderfully well to get as far as we have and we’ve beaten some very good sides.

“I think Brentwood will be one of the favourites; they’re top of the Essex Premier League and I see they’ve won 17 of the 23 games they’ve played this season.

“It’s going to be tough for us, but it’s a game we can just go and enjoy, and give it our best. It all comes down to on the day. I think you’ll get very long odds on us winning with our current record and their current record, but it’s cup cricket and anything can happen.

“It’s an exciting day for the club. I think we’ve probably only been four or five times to the quarter-finals in the whole of our history so this is a big achievement for a young side to get this far.”

Harry Finch and Dan Doram are ineligible, while Jed O’Brien is likely to come into the side after some strong performances for the seconds. George Campbell is in Argentina on a school trip.
