The side’s 114-run defeat in miserable conditions at home to Findon meant they will be plying their trade in Division 3 next term.

Just two seasons ago the club were competing in the Sussex Premier, but the loss of a number of key players, most notably former skipper Rohit Jagota to Roffey has seen them struggle badly this term.

Skipper Lee Callagan said: “We struggled to pick up any wins at the start of the season, there were a few games we were unlucky not to win and it was hard from there. We got into a losing habit, we couldn’t get on a run of wins. “It’s tough to take because we definitely had the players to do OK, we just weren’t consistent.”

On Saturday Alasdair Wilson’s 88 helped Findon declare early on 207-6, Bradley Bridson adding 53.

In reply Luke Burrows topped the score with 36.

Boro had been in at least Division 2 for the last seven seasons, but Callagan has backed the club to recover, saying: “We’ll be looking to bounce right back up. Off the field the club has had a better season. Hopefully we can finish this season with a win.”
