The all-rounder has been given the punishment for the 2014 season after a incident on the social networking site during their County Championship match against Somerset on Tuesday.
A Sussex statement read: “Following a Twitter-related incident concerning Ashar Zaidi on Tuesday, April 29, at The BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground, during the LV County Championship match against Somerset, Sussex County Cricket Club have disciplined Zaidi in accordance with the dub’s disciplinary procedures.
“Ashar Zaidi has been given a suspended one-match suspension for the 2014 season.
“Zaidi has apologised for his behaviour and regrets his actions deeply.
“The club will make no further comment on this subject.”
