Eagles re-sign Shields

ADAM Shields has been named as the second rider signed by the Eastbourne Eagles to ride in the 2006 campaign.

News that the Australian had put pen to paper came hot on the heels of the re-signing of former world champion Nicki Pedersen.

Eastbourne co-promoter Jon Cook hopes to get both Pedersen and Shields to sign two-year contracts before tapes up in early March.

One Eagle who will not be back is Davey Watt. He rode on loan at Arlington from Poole last year and he is going to ride for Oxford, which is under new ownership, in 2006.

Cook could not fit Watt into his Eastbourne team because the points limit on team building dropped to 40 from 42.5.

Watt enjoyed a sensational season in 2005 going from a reserve to third heat leader.
