EMBARRASSMENT FOR STEYNING

ON Saturday's showing at the Memorial Field Steyning face an uphill struggle to avoid relegation from the Sussex Premier League. Title contenders Brighton & Hove's crushing 186-run victory ruthlessly exposed the difference between top and bottom of the league.

The Steyning innings, which lasted 27.3 overs, could only muster a meagre 45 runs thanks to the pace of the Australian Paul Wilson (3-16) and Richard Spink (4-23). Little went right for Steyning from the moment that Green decided to bat first. His decision did at least give the spectators something to watch.
