The Staplecross-based professional will take his place in an all-star field including world number one Jordan Spieth and number three Rory McIlroy at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.

Fifth-ranked Henrik Stenson and sixth-ranked Rickie Fowler are also in the line-up along with Martin Kaymer, Lee Westwood, Ernie Els, Darren Clarke and Ian Poulter. The 72-hole tournament will start tomorrow (Thursday) and continue until Sunday.

In all, eight major champions, 89 European Tour winners, six European Tour number ones and five world number ones will be descending on Abu Dhabi Golf Club for the US$2.7 million event.

Evans will begin his opening round from the 10th tee at 7.35am GMT tomorrow in the company of compatriot Simon Dyson and Spanish player Nacho Elvira.

Evans, who is 355th in the world rankings, will be hoping for an improvement in form having missed the cut at last weekend’s Joburg Open in South Africa - the first time he has failed to play all four rounds since September.

The 29-year-old began with a two-under-par 69 on the West Course at Royal Johannesburg & Kensington GC featuring three birdies and an eagle, but could only manage a two-over-par 74 on the East Course in round two despite three birdies.
