FOOTBALL: Danny Cullip's weekly column (April 8)

LAST Thursday's game when Brighton & Hove Albion took on Southampton was a massive fixture, being a big local derby, and to be leading and concede a late goal is always disappointing as a player.

It was the 89th minute when they pulled it back to 2-2, but the result still shows just how well we have done this season.

On Easter Monday, it was then a long trip up to Hartlepool where, unfortunately, we got nothing from the game.

I suppose one point from both games could be seen as a little disappointing. But, then again, that just shows the progress we have made, as Southampton is obviously a very tough game, while Hartlepool is a tough, tough place to go.

We have been on a fantastic run and every run has to come to an end. It is now how we respond. We need to go on another run into the business end of the season.

The league is so tight at both ends of the table, and with six games left there are still many teams that could still finish second.

I don't think Huddersfield can, but Swindon, Millwall, Leeds and Charlton could all take the second spot.

There is no doubt in my mind that we will be up there next season. Everyone I speak to at the moment agrees the football is great and, after looking at our recent results, I can't see us being anywhere else.

I think Southampton will also be in the mix, but obviously we'll be top and they'll be second.

My Worthing Academy boys got a bit of revenge over East Barks last week with an unusual name making it onto the score sheet.

We lost to them at home when they had a few first-teamers in, so to win up at their place was great.

Luke Haggert scored for us in what was probably his first goal ever, as I've never even seen him score in training. He's a defender and doesn't find himself in the box too much, but a stray ball hit him on the backside and went in and, to be honest, I don't know how the keeper didn't save it.

On the flip side, Tommy Taylor scored the goal of the season with a cracking volley, which we all thought had broken the net.

I've told them all they've got to keep working now as there's still a cup final to play.

Dave Green has been running an Albion in the Community healthy eating and exercise course at Worthing's Thomas A'Becket school recently.

It's been a big success holding tournaments and taking courses on staying healthy.

Dave is also preparing to take 55 boys from the Albion's development centres off on a tour of Holland. The boys will all play in a two-day tournament and have a tour of the PSV stadium. It'll be a great experience for them and, who knows, maybe some of them will be playing in stadiums like that in years to come.
