Arnaut Danjuma had a long range effort parried away by Glenn Morris in a positive start for Bournemouth.
The Cherries threatened again when, from a corner, Phillip Billing’s header was kept out by a combination of Morris and the post.

Hide AdAn excellent Crawley move saw Tom Nichols play in Ashley Nadesan who, from a tight angle, had a powerful effort pushed away by Asmir Begovic.
Bournemouth’s probing finally paid off when a neat team move on the edge of the box saw Josh King flick the ball back to Jack Wilshere, who tucked a first time effort into the bottom corner, giving Bournemouth a deserved lead on the 24th minute.
Crawley were lucky not to be two down when Jordan Tunnicliffe kept out a close-range effort from Brooks, whose follow up bounced wide.

Hide AdIn the second-half, the Cherries looked dangerous again when King looked to latch onto Steve Cook’s header, but Morris kept him out from close range, before the ball was eventually scrambled clear.
King had another effort from the edge of the penalty area, with Morris getting down well to hold the shot.
Crawley had a massive chance to equalise when Nadesan caught Begovic dawdling on the ball. The ball fell to Nichols, but he couldn’t fire past the Bosnian, who amended his mistake quickly.

Hide AdThe Reds grew into the game and got a well-deserved equaliser when a quick free-kick was taken, with the ball being worked wide. Josh Wright climbed high to head a cross on towards the back post, where Nichols was waiting to slide past Begovic, equalising in the 59th minute.
But the Crawley lead was short-lived, as not long after the ball was played into King, who restored the Cherries’ advantage, with a clinical finish, rolling into the bottom corner in the 65th minute.
King had a great chance to put Bournemouth out of reach on the counter-attack, but another fine save from Morris kept the Reds alive.

Hide AdMorris was Crawley’s hero again when he thwarted Dominic Solanke from close range, before Solanke sent a free header wide as Crawley were on the ropes.
Brooks fired over in added time as the Cherries looked to seal the deal, but two goals were enough to see off a brave effort from the Red Devils.
