Airfield arena looks to get off to flying start in Ford

It is the brainchild of Michael Bell and Rod Hague and it has taken them about a year for their dream to come true.

Being involved in many sports, they realised indoor arenas are becoming more popular, with not only young players but adults as well.

The venue will cater for all age groups, all genders, different abilities and players with special needs who will also be encouraged to play the game in a fun and safe way.

The venue will also aim to run football and refereeing courses, enabling staff and the community to get involved and create careers within football.

The main idea is to offer regular programmes and in-house five-a-side football leagues and run charity events with World Cup themes, among other attractions.

Bosses say the Arena will be the largest private indoor football venue in the south of England with four indoor five-a-side football pitches built with the latest 3G artificial grass and incorporating environmentally friendly technologies.

The facility is being designed for the current as well as future generations of football players.

The design of the arena is also environmentally-friendly with 91 per cent of the energy to be used coming from local sustainable sources and solar.

The aim of the Ford Indoor Football Arena is to be a community-based organizsation helping to support local clubs and charities.

Plans include being an active partner with charities, in particular The Chestnut Tree House hospice near Arundel.
