Albion 1-1 Watford

The Wales international slammed past Manuel Almunia in the 54th minute to cancel out Sean Murray’s 4th minute opener, but the travelling fans were livid when officials ruled that Fernando Forestieiri’s effort had not gone in just after the break.

The strike would’ve given the Hornets a two-goal cushion with less than half of the game to play, but Gordon Greer’s poked clearance was deemed good enough to prevent the whole ball crossing the goalline.

After a dismal first half display from an injury-riddled Seagulls side which saw Murray’s long range strike deflect off Stephen Ward’s back and fizz over Tomasz Kuszczak inside five minutes, the decision proved to be the spark that the home side needed.

After a short spell of pressure from Oscar’s men, a corner allowed Crofts to swivel inside the penalty area and flash the ball high into the net to level the game.

Neither side were willing to settle for a draw, however, and introduced attacking options in the closing stages.

Forestieri, who was booed throughout by the Albion faithful after a reckless challenge on Kuszczak in the first half, saw his header kiss the inside of the post late on, before Croft’s crisp strike was clawed away by Almunia.

The point sees Albion sit in 16th in the Championship, while Watford stay in 7th.
